This piece was a personal experiment I did during 2020's Covid-19 pandemic and it took almost the whole year to finish. I used a mixed technique of ink and neon colors on recicled paper + carton layers, while drawing under UV Light.
First drawed Terry in the center of the sheet with the Opal stone in his hand. Then I proyected patterns of light from him with neon color pencils, after that did the same with Neon Sharpie markers but adding fractal crystalizations and nature's patterns. Next, some dark shades of blue and purple ink to make it contrast. Then once again same proccess but with neon color pens to deepen the perspective.
Some of the process was done with natural light, mostly the dark parts consisting in shades of blue and purple (such as the figure and object edges, shadowing and some contrasting patterns).
The model and the opaline stone, tied up for stabilization purposes (now you know where the scarf came from)
Finally, comes the plastification proccess. For the last layers I used a translucid acetate sheet (PET) to cover it front and back. Primarly to protect the artwork of worn out but also for lighting purposes. This will increase the crystal effect I tried to capture in this artwork and its fluorescent luminosity when placed under UV Light.
